Bitsy’s Bio, Baby!

Bio: the short version

Looking for a bio? Meet Bitsy Kemper, the dynamo behind 30 children’s books and the 2025 DEVOTIONAL OF THE YEAR (!) Mommy and Me Micro-Moments: Nurturing Faith, Sharing Laughs. She’s been spotted on CNN and CBS This Morning, and graced radio, podcasts, newspapers and magazines across the nation. When not yelling at raising three kids (four if you count her husband) she’s knee deep into yoga. You can often find her helping out at church or hiding all the dark chocolate (but not both simultaneously). She enjoys rocking author visits and conferences from California to New York. Oh, wait, you’re already here…

Need more detail? This is the (much) longer version, if you’re just plain curious–no offense if you skip it!

Bio: the looong version

The Early Years

You’d think being the youngest of five kids raised by a single dad after her mom passed away when Bitsy was just two years old would be a recipe for chaos – and you’d be right! But the Kemper clan on Lawn Guyland (commonly spelled “Long Island”) made the most of their situation. Yeah, money was tight, but they were rich in all the things that really mattered – family, laughter, and faith.

Joining every club and activity she possibly could, Bitsy was simply obSESSED with school. Kind teachers and lunch ladies took this eager beaver under their wings, sneaking her hand-me-downs and extra scoops of mashed potatoes, and boy is she is ever-grateful. She still keeps in touch!

BFFs Mark Twain & Bitsy

After acing degrees in Economics/Marketing and Communications/Theater at NC State, the ever-studious Bitsy triple-jumped into an MBA out west. Her first job put the MA and MBA to work in oh-so-riveting product demand forecasting. (She actually loved it.) Then she joined Marketing and PR, where she brought her trademark spark attempting to teach engineers presentation skills [tough crowd], running a multi-million dollar educational program, even starring in glitzy media gigs (including a syndicated newspaper column and TV/radio spots galore)! Shy she is not.

Once she ditched the corporate pantsuits, Bitsy’s true colors radiated through local California papers and TV spots. Not a hard-hitting journalist, seeing she was better suited as a storyteller, she stuck with book writing. She’s been unstoppable since – emceeing, acting, starring in an award-winning cable access masterpiece “Dot’s Correct!”, and profiled from in media CNN to Writing Children’s Books for Dummies to mommy podcasts. Among all that, she had three kids in four years.

Yes, caffeine is her friend.

Books [most images are below]

Her first book idea sprouted from rhymes dreamed up on stroller walks. She’s now published over two-dozen books for kids, with her newest devotional Mommy And Me Micro-Moments: Nurturing Faith, Sharing Laughs.

Her current books include two YA nonfiction (ReferencePoint Press, 2017 and 2018), three finance chapter books (Lerner, 2016), four nonfiction titles (The Child’s World, 2015), three NF YA for the school and library market (Rosen 2014 and ReferencePoint Press 2017, 2018), two ESL picture books (TunTun Books, published overseas), four virtual field trips (Capstone/Picture Window Books, 2006).

Under the pen name Andrea Lane, she’s created a Mommy & Me coloring/activity book, a faith-filled version of Mommy & Me coloring/activity book, My Dad is More Than a Dad coloring/activity book, an Easter Coloring Book…Starring Jesus! coloring/activity book, and a fill-in Grandma’s Secret Recipes book for families to fill out with grandma together.

[If you’re doing the math, there are seven ghostwritten PBs to add to the mix. It probably totals more than 30 books at this point, but close enough.]

She also has written for UNLOCKED for Teens (Jan 2022), Guideposts Books (Angels in Real Life 2026, Too Close for Coincidence (x2) in 2026), the Aging Gracefully anthology from Grace Publishing (2025), Holidays anthology from NCPA (2025), and award-winning Arise Daily (Aug 16, 2025).

Coming Soon

Summer of 2026 brings BEST FRIENDS WITH GRANDMA, and BEST FRIENDS WITH GRANDPA follows in 2027. The two charming picture books, showing the long-lasting and deep-reaching ways even the smallest of shared moments can have on a grandchild, are with Bless This Press, an imprint of The Little Press. Bitsy thanks her beloved Gammy for the inspiration.

Starting out a bedraggled and literally hungry child who often got lost in the shuffle, whoever would have guessed this is where she’d end up? Maybe Clifford the Big Red Dog did. He made her forget she was bedraggled and hungry. He gave her respite, hope, and some good, old fashioned giggles.

Bitsy wants to do the same for other kids: give them a friend in books, with main characters that make them feel seen, loved, worthy of a belly laugh or two.

We all are worthy.

(Are you still reading? You are either devoted or bored. Maybe both? Thanks either way.)
